It was very scary for this 63 year old woman, separated by 738 miles from my home and husband to take on higher education again. I thank God that I went over to the South Campus that day just mostly being curious.

I believe God has had a hand in my life the last few years. It was He would put it on my heart to stay here; Christmas 2018. I felt it was God’s decision to open a room at Maple Esplanade for mom and it was the perfect room. It was large and had 2 windows and lots of natural light. I felt it was with God’s guidance that I went over to campus that day.

I was blessed with great instructors and great classmates. Many people asked me if I taught at Northark. I always smiled and explained that no, in fact, I was a student. I was proud to be a student.

I like being able to ask others when I felt lost. I enjoyed getting my steps in on campus and throwing myself into reading, testing, and designing.

I just don’t think I could have done it without Benta, Ellen, and Misty. What great people to have such an amazing experience with!

Minion Meme Friends
I’m not sure which is Ellen and which is Misty. But I am blessed to call them friends.

I kept reading about PBL in the hallways. I knew what Future Business Leaders was. I worked with some kids in FBLA at Frederick Douglass High School in Atlanta, GA. I still have the t-shirt to prove it! I thought, “Maybe I could help the students here too.” Instead (like the Blessing Box), PBL helped me.

I donated a lot of things to the Silent Auction Fundraiser. I am good at fundraising. Then I started recruiting people. I also made a flyer for the benefits. Misty helped me sit at the Recruitment table one day with Stephanie and Paul. It was fun to try and get people involved. We talked to a lot of students!!!

A Recruitment Flyer I made for PBL Recruitment at Northark.

The first three pages of a Power Point that I wrote the content for during our competition for Desk Top Publishing. Our subject was the National Dress Code. We won 3rd in the state!

We had a great plan and a great design. What a learning experience and such an honor.
